Abstract
For use in packet-switched networks, a method is provided for using external information regarding the degree of misordering of packets, to make header compression more robust against such misordering.
Claims9
A method, comprising:
- obtaining a measure of misordering of packets arriving on a channel in a packet-switched network;
- modifying at least one operating parameter of a packet-header compression algorithm in response to the measure of misordering that has been obtained;
- and
- compressing the headers of packets arriving on said channel in accordance with said modified parameter or parameters.
