Optical equipment mounting devices and systems

An optical mounting device comprising:

• a platform defining a horizontal plane and comprising a plurality of coupling devices to hold a plurality of optical devices, wherein at least one of the coupling devices is located below the horizontal plane;
• a support coupled to the platform to support the platform about a surface, the support comprising an adjustment mechanism to adjust at least one of a horizontal or vertical position of the optical devices.

The optical mounting device of claim 9, wherein the support defines a vertical axis and wherein the coupling devices are situated on a same side of the vertical axis.

In an optical equipment mounting system using a tripod and at least one tactically mounted optical device, the system comprising:

• a mounting assembly including a generally horizontal platform, the platform including at least one coupling mechanism to carry the at least one optical device below the generally horizontal platform and to one side of a vertical axis of a tripod.
