Brake system for a towed agricultural implement

A brake system for a detachable agricultural implement towed by a tow vehicle, the detachable agricultural implement having a frame movably supported by a wheel assembly and a first tongue member configured in telescoping relation to a second tongue, the second tongue member configured to pivotally interconnect the frame at a drawbar of the tow vehicle, the detachable agricultural implement defined by a central longitudinal axis relative to a forward direction of travel, the wheel assembly having an outer tread surface, the brake system comprising:

• a pivot linkage pivotally connected at the frame of the detachable agricultural implement;
• a brake arm attached at the pivot linkage;
• and
• an actuator cylinder interconnected between the pivot linkage and the frame, wherein movement of the actuator cylinder causes the brake arm to engage against the outer circumferential tread surface of the wheel assembly and restrain movement of the wheel assembly and frame of the agricultural implement as the tow vehicle moves the second tongue member in telescoping relation to the first tongue member.
