Abstract
An ultrasonic generator comprising an input module for receiving a power signal. An output module for outputting an ultrasonic signal is also included in the generator. A motherboard is coupled to both the input module and the output module. The motherboard includes a digital controller adapted to control the input module and the output module.
Claims20
An ultrasonic generator comprising:
- an input module for receiving a power signal;
- an output module for outputting an ultrasonic signal;
- a motherboard coupled to both the input module and the output module, wherein the motherboard includes a digital controller adapted to control the input module and the output module.
A method for generating an ultrasonic signal comprising:
- providing an input module for receiving a power signal;
- providing an output module for outputting an ultrasonic signal;
- coupling a motherboard to both the input module and the output module, wherein the motherboard includes a digital controller adapted to control the input module and the output module.
A method for testing the power of an ultrasonic generator comprising:
- transmitting a test signal to an input module for testing an incoming power supply;
- in response to a positive test result, transmitting a test signal to a plurality of buses for testing an internal power supply;
- in response to a positive test result from the internal power supply, transmitting a test signal to an outputting power supply;
- and
- in response to a positive test result from the outputting power supply, allowing full operation of the ultrasonic generator.
A method for operating an ultrasonic generator, comprising:
- providing an input module and an output module;
- coupling a motherboard to the input module and the output module;
- selecting, via the motherboard, a regulation control, such that the regulation control can be adjusted in a plurality of increments.
A method of preventing overload trips in an ultrasonic generator comprising:
- sampling a power level of the ultrasonic generator;
- comparing the sampled power level to a preset overload power level;
- and
- in response to the sample power level being greater than the preset overload power level, activating a trip once a predetermined time has elapsed;
- wherein the predetermined time correlates to the sampled power level.
The method of 13 wherein the correlation between the predetermined time and the sampled power level is stored in a graph in a memory of the ultrasonic generator.
A method of preventing an overload trip of an ultrasonic generator comprising:
- sampling a power level of the ultrasonic generator;
- determining whether the sampled power is within a set percentage of an overload trip level;
- and
- in response to the sampled power being within the set percentage of the overload trip level, decreasing an amplitude of the sampled power.
A method for setting an ultrasonic resonant frequency for an ultrasonic generator comprising:
- measuring a resonant frequency while the ultrasonic generator is in use;
- and
- setting a phase lock loop to about the resonant frequency.
A method for powering down an ultrasonic generator comprising:
- activating a power-off switch on the ultrasonic generator;
- and
- gradually reducing the power of the ultrasonic generator over a predetermined period of time.
A method for reaching a set amplitude in an ultrasonic generator comprising:
- storing a plurality of curves in a memory of the ultrasonic generator, each of the curves representing a different method for reaching a set amplitude of the ultrasonic generator;
- selecting one of the plurality of set curves in the memory;
- and
- following the selected curve to reach the set amplitude in the ultrasonic generator.
