Cutting apparatus for plastic-encased and corrugated packages

A cutting tool for cutting material, the cutting tool comprising:

• a main body having an applicator end;
• a piercing device for piercing the material, the piercing device have a sharp pointed end;
• a cutting device for pulling and cutting the material;
• and
• means for selecting and extending the piercing device or the cutting device through the applicator end.

A cutting tool for cutting material, the cutting tool comprising:

• a main body having an applicator end and a handle on an opposite end;
• a piercing device for piercing the material, the piercing device have a sharp pointed end;
• a cutting device for pulling and cutting the material, the cutting device having a hook-shaped tip and a cutting edge adjacent the hook-shaped tip;
• and
• means for selecting and extending a device through the applicator end, the means for selecting and extending a device including:
• a slidable base having the cutting device on a first end and the piercing device on the second end, the base being positioned within an interior portion of the main body;
• and
• the applicator end having a slotted opening for receiving the extended device;
• each device being in a stowed position when not adjacent the slotted opening and extending through the slotted opening when adjacent the slotted opening;
• whereby a device is selected by the user by positioning the selected device adjacent the slotted opening, the selected device being extended through the slotted opening to expose the selected device.
