Abstract
In a tank for treating wastewater and including a first plurality of air diffuser elements and a second plurality of air diffuser elements, means for adjusting the relative height of the first diffuser elements with respect to the height of the second diffuser elements in response to changing operating conditions in the tank and changes in the characteristics of the diffusers.
Claims13
In a wastewater treatment system,
- at least one tank for containing a volume of wastewater,
- an air supply,
- a first header submerged in the volume of wastewater,
- a plurality of diffuser elements mounted on the first header and for diffusing air into the wastewater,
- a second header submerged in the volume of wastewater and connected to the air supply,
- a plurality of second diffuser elements mounted on the second header and for diffusing air into the wastewater,
- a first header being connected to the air supply such that the first header can be adjustably moved vertically with respect to the tank and the second header.

A wastewater treatment system comprising:
- at least one tank for containing a volume of wastewater,
- an air supply,
- a first header submerged in the volume of wastewater,
- a plurality of first diffuser elements mounted on first header and for diffusing air into the wastewater,
- a second header submerged in the volume of wastewater and connected to the air supply,
- a plurality of second diffuser elements mounted on a second header and for diffusing air into the wastewater,
- the first header being connected to the air supply such that the first header can be adjustably moved vertically with respect to the tank and the second header, and
- means for adjustably moving the first header to change the elevation of the header to permit balancing of the air flow through the first header and the second header.
5 more elements
A tank for treating wastewater comprising:
- a plurality of first diffuser elements, the first diffuser elements being membrane diffusers,
- a plurality of second diffuser elements, the second diffuser elements being ceramic diffusers,
- means for adjusting the relative height of the membrane diffusers with respect to the height of the ceramic diffusers to balance the air flow through the membrane diffusers and the ceramic diffusers in response to changing operating conditions in the tank and of the membrane diffusers and ceramic diffusers.
A method for treating wastewater comprising:
- providing a tank for treating wastewater,
- providing a first set of diffuser elements in the tank for diffusing air in the form of fine bubbles into the wastewater in the tank,
- providing a second set of diffuser elements in the tank for diffusing air in the form of fine bubbles into the wastewater in the tank,
- changing the relative elevation of the first set of diffuser elements with respect to the second set of diffuser elements.
