Abstract
An emergency vehicle shelter including an inflatable bladder configured for nested engagement with a vehicle for covering the vehicle's upper and outer surfaces. The bladder may be inflated by a remotely activated inflation unit. Provision is made in the bladder member to allow a vehicle operator to reenter the vehicle for shelter from inclement weather.
Claims9
An emergency vehicle shelter, comprising:
- an inflatable bladder member, said inflatable bladder member configured for nested engagement with the entire upper and outer surfaces of a vehicle;
- an inflation member, said inflation member being configured for removable engagement with said inflatable bladder member, said inflation member and said inflatable bladder member being sized such that upon activation of said inflation member, said bladder member is fully inflated within one minute;
- and
- an entry port member, said entry port member being configured for allowing an operator to enter or exit a vehicle with said inflatable bladder member nested with said vehicle, said entry port member being resealable via a fastening means.

A method for protecting a vehicle against impact damage from hail, comprising:
- selecting an emergency vehicle shelter member comprising:
- an inflatable bladder member, said inflatable bladder member configured for nested engagement with the entire upper and outer surfaces of a vehicle, said inflatable bladder member being comprised of a plurality of air pockets in fluid communication with one another, said inflatable bladder member having a band member, said band member configured to draw the perimeter of said bladder member tightly against the bottom of a vehicle which said bladder member has nested engagement, said shelter member being configured with transparent regions;
- an inflation member, said inflation member being configured for removable engagement with said inflatable bladder member, said inflation member and said inflatable bladder member being sized such that upon activation of said inflation member, said bladder member is fully inflated within one minute, said inflation member being battery operated, said inflation member being configured to automatically shut off upon said bladder member inflating to a preset pressure, said inflation member being activated via a remote control member;
- an entry port member, said entry port member being configured for allowing an operator to enter or exit a vehicle with said inflatable bladder member nested with said vehicle, said entry port member being resealable via a fastening means;
- and
- a plurality of attachment members attached to the perimeter of said inflatable bladder member for securing said inflatable bladder member to a vehicle to which said bladder member has nested engagement;
- configuring said shelter in nested engagement with the upper and outer surfaces of a vehicle;
- securing the perimeter of said shelter member to said vehicle via said band member and said plurality of attachment means;
- entering said vehicle through said entry port;
- resealing said entry port via said fastening means;
- and activating said inflation member via said remote control member.
