Abstract
The present teachings are directed methods of producing tungsten-containing nanoparticles, specifically tungsten nanoparticles and tungsten oxide nanoparticles with an average particle size of less than about five nanometers.
Claims32
A method of producing tungsten-containing nanoparticles, comprising
- providing a tungsten-containing component;
- providing a microemulsion comprising two immiscible liquids, one aqueous liquid, and one non-aqueous liquid, and a surfactant;
- mixing the tungsten-containing component with the microemulsion;
- and
- allowing the tungsten-containing component to be hydrolyzed to form tungsten-containing nanoparticles,
- wherein the microemulsion contains a sufficient amount of a water-containing component to hydrolyze the tungsten-containing component.
3 more elements
A method of producing tungsten-containing nanoparticles, comprising
- providing a first microemulsion comprising a first aqueous nano-domain dispersed in a first non-aqueous phase and a first surfactant, wherein the first aqueous nano-domain has dissolved therein a tungsten-containing component;
- providing a second microemulsion comprising a second aqueous nano-domain dispersed in a second non-aqueous phase and a second surfactant, wherein the second aqueous nano-domain has dissolved therein a precipitating agent;
- mixing the first microemulsion and the second microemulsion together;
- and
- allowing tungsten-containing nanoparticles to precipitate.
