Abstract
An X-ray device, array and method for performing digital X-ray imaging. An X-ray device has an X-ray source that is disposed on a substantially opposite side of an object to be analyzed from a digital X-ray detector. The digital X-ray detector may be formed as an array having a plurality of detectors, and the device may have a plurality of arrays. The detector moves linearly relative to the object along an axis.
Claims49
An X-ray device, comprising:
- an X-ray source for emitting X-ray radiation at an object;
- and
- at least one digital X-ray detector located on a substantially opposite side of the object from the X-ray source, wherein the digital X-ray detector:
- moves, in a single pass, linearly relative to the object along a scanning axis;
- receives, during the single pass, X-ray radiation that has passed through a region of interest of the object from a plurality of incident angles;
- and
- provides, based on the X-ray radiation received during the single pass, an electronic signal that represents an X-ray image of the region of interest.

An X-ray imaging method, comprising:
- emitting X-ray radiation toward an object in a first direction;
- causing relative linear motion between a digital X-ray detector and the object, wherein the relative linear motion is along a scanning axis that is substantially perpendicular to the first direction and occurs in a single pass;
- receiving, during the single pass, X-ray radiation that has passed through a region of interest with the object and within a plurality of incident angles using the digital X-ray detector;
- and
- generating, based on the X-ray radiation received during the single pass, an electronic signal that represents an X-ray image of the region of interest.

An X-ray detector array, comprising:
- plural detectors including at least a first and a second digital detector for receiving X-ray radiation generally arranged along a longitudinal axis, the detectors each including a plurality of pixels and configured such that adjacent edges of the detectors are not entirely parallel to a scanning axis, wherein the scanning axis represents a direction of movement of the detectors relative to an object to be analyzed, wherein the first and second digital detectors are adapted to receive the X-ray radiation within a plurality of incident angles when moving along the scanning axis, wherein the longitudinal axis is perpendicular to the scanning axis.
