Abstract
The present application relates to fluid filled pouches arranged in a row. The fluid filled units coprise elongate, heat sealable, face and back layers that are jointed together at a side edge, and by transverse seals to form pouches. The pouches are filled with fluid and are sealed at a split edge, defining fluid filled units. The fluid filled units can be separated along transverse lines of weakness. The transverse lines of weakness are defined by perforations, inlucidng perforations nearest the split edge that are shorter in length than perforations that are spaced further from the split edge and extend toward the side edge.
Claims21
A series of fluid filled pouches arranged in a row comprising:
- elongate heat sealable, flattened plastic face and back layers;
- the layers being imperforately joined together at a side edge;
- the layers being joined by longitudinally spaced transverse seals;
- the side edge and transverse seals together defining a string of pouches, with each pouch being filled with fluid and sealed at a split edge;
- transverse lines of weakness extending from the side edge to the split edge, wherein the transverse lines of weakness are defined by spaced perforations extending through the layers with the perforations nearest to the split edge of the layers being shorter in length than the lengths of other perforations that are spaced further from the split edge and extend toward the side edge.
A series of fluid filled pouches arranged in a row comprising:
- elongate heat sealable, flattened plastic face and back layers including imperforate sections;
- the layers being imperforately joined together at a side edge by a selected one of a fold and a seal;
- the layers being joined by longitudinally spaced transverse seals, each transverse seal extends from the side edge and terminates in a spaced relationship with a split edge of the layers;
- at least some of the transverse seals respectively including transverse lines of weakness extending from the side edge to the split edge in a longitudinal direction of the seals;
- the side edge, transverse seals and lines of weakness together delineating a string of pouches with each pouch being filled with fluid and sealed, wherein the transverse lines of weakness are defined by spaced perforations extending through both layers with the perforations nearest to the split edge of the layers being shorter in length than the lengths of other perforations that are spaced further from the split edge and extend toward the side edge.
A series of fluid filled pouches arranged in a row comprising:
- elongate flattened top and bottom layers;
- the layers being longitudinally joined at a side edge;
- the layers being longitudinally sealed near a split edge by a seal;
- longitudinally spaced transverse seals the seals extending from the side edge toward but spaced from the split edge of the layers, wherein the side edge, the seal near the split edge, and the transverse seals form pouches that are inflated;
- a plurality of longitudinally spaced transverse lines of weakness extending substantially from the side edge to the split edge, wherein the transverse lines of weakness comprise perforations including relatively short perforations extending from the split edge toward the side edge and longer perforations that extend from the short perforations toward the side edge.
