Abstract
A computer-implemented method is disclosed. The method is for enabling a user to efficiently navigate to a portion of a user interface configured to support performance of a particular task. The method includes receiving from the user an input that includes a description of the particular task. A result set is returned to the user and includes a plurality of candidate tasks that correspond to the description. The candidate tasks are displayed relative to an indication of at least one corresponding applet.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method for rendering a display associated with a task-oriented user interface, the method comprising:
- receiving a request to display a category view that includes an indication of a plurality of task categories;
- referencing a database to gain access to a collection of information that is indicative as to which of a plurality of tasks are affiliated with a given task category;
- and
- displaying the plurality of task categories each in association with one or more affiliated tasks.
A system for supporting the rendering of a display associated with a task-oriented user interface, comprising:
- a data file containing a plurality of entries, wherein each entry corresponds to a task;
- and
- a system database containing a plurality of entries that each correspond to an applet, the system database further comprising at least one pointer for linking the data file to the system database so as to support a parsing of the data file to determine which tasks are affiliated with a given applet.
A system for supporting the rendering of a display associated with a task-oriented user interface, comprising:
- a data file containing a plurality of entries, wherein each entry corresponds to a task;
- and
- a system database containing a plurality of entries that each correspond to a category, the system database further comprising at least one pointer for linking the data file to the system database so as to support a parsing of the data file to determine which tasks are affiliated with a given category.
