Automating input when testing voice-enabled applications

A system for testing voice-enabled applications comprising:

• a voice browser that interprets voice-based markup code;
• at least one speech processing service configured to perform a speech processing task for a voice-based application responsive to a request originating from the voice browser;
• a session input store configured to store input data used by said speech processing service for a plurality of different sessions;
• a user interface comprising a session selection feature and a test session feature, said session selection feature permitting a user to select one of said plurality of different sessions, wherein the selection of the test session feature results in the execution of the voice-enabled application, and wherein during the execution, the speech processing service performs the speech processing task using input data automatically extracted from the session input store, said input data being associated with the user selected session, wherein the execution of the voice-enabled application proceeds with the automatically extracted input data being used in response to prompts for input until no input data is found within the session input store that corresponds to a prompt for input.

A machine-readable storage having stored thereon, a computer program having a plurality of code sections, said code sections executable by a machine for causing the machine to perform the steps of:

• identifying a session input store that includes input data associated with voice-enabled application prompts;
• executing a voice-enabled application;
• said voice-enabled application prompting for user input, said user input being used for performing a speech processing task;
• automatically extracting input data from the session input store, said extracted data being used responsive to the prompting in lieu of user input;
• and
• a speech processing service performing the speech processing task based upon the extracted data, wherein the session input store automates the input process during testing so that a tester is not required to manually respond to prompts from the voice-enabled application, and wherein the method is used to test said voice-enabled application.
