Abstract
A device and system is provided for a prosthetic device having an articulating joint for a leg amputee. The device includes a joint housing forming a chamber, and the chamber has a first opening. A rotary hub can be disposed within the joint housing and configured to act as the articulating joint. One or more vanes can extend outwardly from the rotary hub, and the vane is configured to actuate fluid flow through the first opening.
Claims30
A prosthetic device having an articulating joint for a leg amputee, comprising:
- a joint housing forming a first chamber, the first chamber having a first opening;
- a rotary hub disposed within the joint housing and configured to act as the articulating joint;
- and
- a vane extending outwardly from the rotary hub, wherein the vane is configured to actuate fluid flow through the first opening.
A prosthetic device for a leg amputee having hydraulic resistance, comprising:
- a joint housing having a first chamber, the first chamber having a first opening, and a second opening in fluid communication with the first opening;
- a rotary hub disposed within the joint housing and configured to act as an articulating joint;
- a first vane extending outwardly from the rotary hub, wherein the first vane is configured to actuate fluid flow through the first opening;
- and
- a valve for controlling the fluid flow between the first opening and the second opening of the first chamber.
A prosthetic device for a leg amputee having at least one joint, comprising:
- a joint housing having a first chamber, the first chamber having a first opening and a second opening in fluid communication with the second opening;
- a rotary hub having a vane, disposed within the joint housing, wherein the vane is configured to actuate fluid flow;
- and
- an electronically controlled valve for variably controlling the fluid flow between the first opening and the second opening of the first chamber.
A device as in claim 21, further comprising a microprocessor in communication with the electronic valve to control the electronic valve based on a preconfigured algorithm.
A prosthetic device for a leg amputee having a joint, comprising:
- a joint housing having a first chamber, the first chamber having a first opening and a second opening in fluid communication with the first opening;
- a rotary hub disposed within the joint housing and configured to act as the joint;
- a vane extending outwardly from the rotary hub, wherein the vane is configured to actuate fluid flow;
- and
- a pendulum valve, having a pendulum member configured to control the fluid flow between the first opening and the second opening of the first chamber, in response to gravitational force.
