Abstract
Provided is a method for the formation of metallic nanoparticles which involves forming a solution which contains metal ions and polymers having both reducing components and stabilizing components, such that metal nanoparticles are formed. Also provided is a suspension of nanoparticles which are formed by the method.
Claims20
A method for producing metal nanoparticles, said method comprising the steps of:
- a) preparing a particle formation solution comprising a solvent, a metal ion and a copolymer, said copolymer comprising a first polymer and a second polymer, wherein the first polymer is characterized as having a greater reducing activity than the second polymer and the second polymer is characterized as having a greater stabilizing activity than the first polymer;
- b) allowing a suspension of metal nanoparticles to form in said particle formation solution.
A suspension of metal nanoparticles, said nanoparticles complexed with a copolymer, said copolymer comprising a first polymer and a second polymer, wherein the first polymer is characterized as having a greater reducing activity than the second polymer and the second polymer is characterized as having a greater stabilizing activity than the first polymer.
