Low voltage differential signaling transceiver

A transmitter comprising:

• a first terminal in signal communication with a transmission line;
• a source resistance in signal communication with the first terminal;
• a switch in signal communication with the source resistance, and in switchable signal communication from ground or an input voltage;
• a voltage regulator in switchable signal communication with the switch for providing the input voltage to the switch;
• and
• a voltage controller in signal communication between the first terminal and the voltage regulator for controlling the input voltage to provide a controlled voltage to a receiver.

A method of controlling a transmitted signal to compensate for a reduction of signal magnitude at a receiver, the method comprising:

• measuring a voltage level at a transmitter end of a transmission line;
• and
• calculating a resistance at the receiver end of the transmission line responsive to the measured voltage;
• generating an adjustable voltage responsive to the calculated resistance to control the signal magnitude provided at the receiver end of the transmission line.

A program storage device readable by machine, tangibly embodying a program of instructions executable by the machine to perform program steps for controlling a transmitted signal to compensate for a reduction of signal magnitude at a receiver, the program steps comprising:

• measuring a resistance at the receiver end of a transmission line;
• measuring a voltage at a transmitter end of the transmission line;
• and
• generating an adjustable voltage responsive to the measured resistance and measured voltage to control the signal magnitude provided at the receiver end of the transmission line.
