Abstract
Novel reagent formulations and methods are described for the use of phosphonazo III to measure calcium, magnesium and sodium in biological fluids.

A diagnostic reagent kit useful for the measurement of calcium, magnesium or sodium comprising a compound of formula I:
- wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, and R8 are selected from the group consisting of H, C1-6alkyls, C1-6 etheralkyls, C1-6 branched alkyls, C3-8 cycloalkyls and halogens.
A diagnostic reagent kit useful for the measurement of sodium, comprising of the compound of formula (I) wherein R3 and R7 are Cl.
