Abstract
The present invention provides a screening means for a novel therapeutic drug for arteriosclerosis capable of suppressing the progression of arteriosclerosis due to infection with Chlamydia pneumoniae. Specifically, provided is a screening method for a therapeutic substance for arteriosclerosis and/or a prophylactic/therapeutic substance for complications thereof, which comprises using cells of an established monocytic cell line and a Chlamydia pneumoniae-derived 60-kDa heat shock protein or a partial peptide thereof or a salt thereof or calls capable of producing the same (the cells may be identical to, or different from, the cells of the established monocytic cell line).
Claims15
A screening method for a therapeutic substance for arteriosclerosis and/or a prophylactic/therapeutic substance for complications thereof, which comprises using cells of an established monocytic cell line and a Chlamydia pneumoniae-derived 60-kDa heat shock protein or a partial peptide thereof or a salt thereof or cells capable of producing the same (the cells may be identical to, or different from, the cells of the established monocytic cell line).
A screening kit for a therapeutic substance for arteriosclerosis and/or a prophylactic/therapeutic substance for complications thereof, which comprises cells of an established monocytic cell line, and a Chlamydia pneumoniae-derived 60-kDa heat shock protein or a partial peptide thereof or a salt thereof or cells capable of producing the same (the cells may be identical to, or different from, the cells of the established monocytic cell line).
A therapeutic agent for arteriosclerosis and/or a prophylactic/therapeutic agent for complications thereof, which comprises a substance capable of suppressing the induction of the expression of the matrix metalloproteinase-9 gene by a Chlamydia pneumoniae-derived 60-kDa heat shock protein in mammalian cells.
A therapeutic method for arteriosclerosis and/or a prophylactic or therapeutic method for complications thereof in a mammal, which comprises administering to the mammal an effective amount of a substance capable of suppressing the induction of the expression of the matrix metalloproteinase-9 gene by a Chlamydia pneumoniae-derived 60-kDa heat shock protein in mammalian cells.
A use of a substance capable of suppressing the induction of the expression of the matrix metalloproteinase-9 gene by a Chlamydia pneumoniae-derived 60-kDa heat shock protein in mammalian cells, for producing a therapeutic agent for arteriosclerosis and/or a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for complications thereof.
