Abstract
An optical information recording medium has inner and outer spacers at least one of which is formed as an integral part of either one of the top and bottom substrates for defining a cell between the top and bottom substrates by bonding the top and bottom substrates through the spacers in which a recording material is infused and then cured so as thereby to form a specified thickness of a holographic recording layer.
Claims22
An optical information recording medium for recording optical information in a holographic recording layer by the use of holography, comprising:
- a transparent top substrate;
- a bottom substrates;
- spacer means formed as an integral part of at least one of said transparent top substrate and said bottom substrate for defining a cell having a specified depth between said transparent top substrate and said bottom substrate by bonding the other of said transparent top substrate and said bottom substrate to said spacer means;
- and
- a holographic recording layer formed by infusing and curing a holographic recording material in said cell.
A method for manufacturing an optical information recording medium having a recording layer between a transparent top substrate and a bottom substrates in which optical information is recorded by the use of holography, comprising the steps of:
- preparing a transparent top substrate and a bottom substrates both of which are shaped in the form of a disk and have spindle holes, respectively, and at least one of which has at least one of an inner annular spacer provided around said spindle hole and an outer annular spacer having an inlet provided along a periphery thereof is formed as integral part thereof;
- bonding said transparent top substrate and said bottom substrates together through said inner annular spacer and said outer annular spacer so as thereby to define a cell having a specified depth between said transparent top substrate and said bottom substrates;
- infusing said cell with a holographic recording material through said inlet;
- and
- curing said holographic recording material to form a holographic recording layer in said cell.
