Abstract
Disclosed herein is an electrode of an ultra thin manganese battery which has over load discharge properties and high capacity to accomplish a high energy density, by using a mixture of a water-soluble binder and an organic solvent-soluble binder in preparation of the electrode, and a method for preparing the same.
Claims6
A cathode for an ultra thin manganese battery, comprising a mixture of an organic solvent-soluble binder and a water-soluble binder.
A method for manufacturing a cathode for an ultra thin manganese battery comprising:
- pulverizing acetylene black as a conductive material in a ball-mill for 1 to 7 days, drying the resulting slurry primarily in a dry oven set to 105° C. for 12 hours or more and secondarily in a vacuum dryer for 1 hour;
- mixing 60 to 98% by weight, based on the total weight of a composition for preparing the cathode, of manganese dioxide and 0.1 to 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition for preparing the cathode, of the pulverized and dried acetylene black in a high speed blender mixer for 1 to 24 hours;
- dissolving 0.01 to 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of a water-soluble binder in water and adding 0.1 to 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of an organic solvent-soluble binder thereto to prepare a binder solution;
- adding the binder solution to the mixture of the manganese dioxide and acetylene black powder in an amount so that the organic solvent-soluble binder is 0.1 to 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, and the water-soluble binder is 0.01 to 5% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, followed by stirring to prepare a slurry of the cathode composition;
- and
- coating the resulting slurry of the cathode composition on a PET film as a packaging material to a thickness of 50 to 300 μm using a doctor blade, followed by drying in a dryer set to 60° C. for 2 hours or more.
