Abstract
It is intended to provide compositions and foods for use in the treatment, prophylaxis, or amelioration of diseases or symptoms which can be treated, prevented or ameliorated by activating PPAR, in particular, insulin resistant diabetes and hyperlipidemia. Namely, medicinal compositions usable in treating, preventing or improving diseases or symptoms which can be treated, prevented or ameliorated by activation PPAR which contain humulones, isohumulones or lupulones or pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates thereof.
Claims17
A pharmaceutical composition for use in the treatment, prophylaxis, or amelioration of diseases or symptoms which can be treated, prevented or ameliorated by activating PPAR, comprising
- a compound of formula (I)
- wherein R1 and R2 represent C1-6 alkyl or C2-6 alkenyl and R3 and R4 represent a hydroxyl group, C1-6 alkyl, or C2-6 alkenyl, provided that R3 and R4 do not simultaneously represent a hydroxyl group;
- a compound of formula (II)
- wherein R5, R6 and R7 represent a hydrogen atom, C1-6 alkyl or C2-6 alkenyl, R8 and R9 represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, C1-6 alkyl, C2-6 alkenyl, —C(═O)R10, or —CH(—OH)R10, and R10 represents C1-6 alkyl or C2-6 alkenyl, provided that R8 and R9 do not simultaneously represent a hydroxyl group;
- a compound of formula (III)
- wherein R11 and R12 represent a hydrogen atom, C1-6 alkyl or C2-6 alkenyl, R13 and R14 represent a hydroxyl group, C1-6 alkyl, C2-6 alkenyl, —C(═O)R15, or —CH(—OH)R15, and R15 represents C1-6 alkyl or C2-6 alkenyl, provided that R13 and R14 do not simultaneously represent a hydroxyl group;
- a compound of formula (IV)
- wherein R16, R17 and R18 represent a hydrogen atom, C1-6 alkyl or C2-6alkenyl;
- or
- a compound of formula (V)
- wherein R19 represents C1-6 alkyl or C2-6 alkenyl;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof;
- or a hop extract and/or an isomerized hop extract, as an active ingredient.
