Abstract
An 85kDa antigen from Neisseria meningitidis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae has been cloned, sequenced and expressed. The antigen is common to diverse strains, serogroups and serotypes of N. meningitidis, and also to N. gonorrhoeae, N. polysaccharia and N. lactamica. The protein sequences of N. meningitidis (serogroups A and B) and N. gonorrhoeae are highly homologous.
Claims20
An isolated polypeptide fragment comprising:
- (a) an amino acid sequence comprising at least one of SEQ ID NOS:14-104;
- (b) an amino acid sequence having greater than 90% sequence identity to the contiguous sequence of at least one sequence of SEQ ID NOS:14-104, wherein said polypeptide is capable of eliciting an immune response against Neisseria bacteria;
- or
- (c) a sequence comprising at least 7 consecutive amino acids from at least one sequence of SEQ ID NOS:14-104.
