Abstract
A method and apparatus for enabling an edge component, e.g., a Border Element (BE), on a packet network to be endpoint aware is disclosed. Information contained in the BE regarding the endpoint enables it to consult stored protocol configurations that facilitate the dynamic resolution of interworking issues and adjust for service differences in endpoint support based on dynamic protocol interworking resolution.
Claims20
A method for enabling dynamic protocol interworking in a communication network, comprising:
- receiving a signaling message at said communication network, where said signaling message is generated by an endpoint device connected to said communication network;
- and
- processing said signaling message from said endpoint device by dynamically resolving a protocol conflict at a border element (BE) of said communication network, where a plurality of signaling protocol configurations is stored in said border element.
A computer-readable medium having stored thereon a plurality of instructions, the plurality of instructions including instructions which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform the steps of a method for enabling dynamic protocol interworking in a communication network, comprising:
- receiving a signaling message at said communication network, where said signaling message is generated by an endpoint device connected to said communication network;
- and
- processing said signaling message from said endpoint device by dynamically resolving a protocol conflict at a border element (BE) of said communication network, where a plurality of signaling protocol configurations is stored in said border element.
An apparatus for enabling dynamic protocol interworking in a communication network, comprising:
- means for receiving a signaling message at said communication network, where said signaling message is generated by an endpoint device connected to said communication network;
- and
- means for processing said signaling message from said endpoint device by dynamically resolving a protocol conflict at a border element (BE) of said communication network, where a plurality of signaling protocol configurations is stored in said border element.
