Abstract
Multilayer optical disk is recordable or partly recordable. Parallel reading of information data from the group of layers by the same focused laser beam is possible. Only one layer of said group has the guide grooves for tracking. Alignment of the information data disposition on the layers of the group is provided. The signals reflected from the different layers of the group have different tilts and are directed onto the different photodetectors. Optical disk management for preventing its illegal use is proposed.
Claims14
An optical disk of the type from which the recorded information is reproduced by focusing a laser beam thereon with an objective lens and detecting the reflected light beams with photodetectors, said optical disk comprising:
- a main disk body made from a material substantially transparent to radiation with which the recorded information is to be reproduced,
- at least one group of data layers placed inside said main disk body,
- wherein the maximum distance between two data layers of said group is less than the focus depth of the objective lens, which is proportional to .lambda./(NA)2, where .lambda. is the reproducing wavelength and NA is an aperture of the reading beam,
- said group of data layers comprises the only one data layer having prerecorded spiral or concentric guide grooves for tracking,
- the other data layer/layers of said group of data layers does/do not have guide grooves for tracking,
- said data layer/layers not having guide grooves for tracking is/are recordable.
A method of information recording onto recordable data layer/layers of the optical disk performing on the user's optical disk recording/reproducing device,
- said optical disk comprising:
- a main disk body made from a material substantially transparent to radiation with which the recorded information is to be reproduced,
- at least one group of data layers placed inside said main disk body,
- said group of data layers comprising the only one data layer having prerecorded spiral or concentric guide grooves for tracking,
- said data layer having prerecorded guide grooves for tracking could contain prerecorded information pits or could be recordable,
- the other layer/layers of said group of data layers does/do not have guide grooves for tracking,
- said layer/layers not having guide grooves for tracking is/are recordable,
- said layer/layers not having guide grooves for tracking could be flat or could contain the relief periodic structure of slant grooves, which are not connected with tracking,
- said method comprising the steps of:
- producing of a recording beam of coherent light,
- focusing of said recording beam by the objective lens onto the data layer/layers to be recorded,
- scanning of said data layer/layers by the focused light spot using prerecorded guide grooves for tracking,
- wherein said prerecorded guide grooves for tracking of said only one data layer having prerecorded spiral or concentric guide grooves for tracking of said group of data layers are used during recording onto all recordable data layers of said group of data layers.
A method of an optical disk management for preventing its illegal use,
- said optical disk comprising:
- a main disk body made from a material substantially transparent to radiation with which the recorded information is to be reproduced,
- a data layer/layers placed inside said main disk body,
- said layer/layers contains/contain read only type portions with prerecorded information and write once read many type portions,
- wherein information prerecorded on said read only type portions is organized in such a way, that its use is possible only after recording some information onto said write once read many type portions,
- said method comprising the steps of:
- recording data from said read only type portions of the optical disk and from other sources onto said write once read many type portions of the optical disk by the user's optical disk recording/reproducing device during the first using of the optical disk,
- wherein said data to be recorded should include the unique parameters of the user's optical disk recording/reproducing device,
- reproducing data from the optical disk,
- at the beginning of said reproducing comparing of the unique parameters of the optical disk reproducing device with the parameters recorded on the write once read many type portions of the optical disk,
- permitting of the optical disk further reproducing only when unique parameters of the optical disk reproducing device coincide with the parameters recorded on the write once read many type portions of the optical disk.
