Abstract
An electrical machine including a rotor rotatable about an axis and a stator adapted to magnetically interact with the rotor. The stator including (t) teeth and one or more windings with compact coils disposed around the teeth. The one or more windings having (m) phases and (p) poles, where (t) is an integer and is greater than or equal to two, where (m) is an integer and is greater than or equal to two, where (p) is an integer, is greater than or equal to two, and is an even number, and where (t/p=m/2) or (t/p=m/4).

An electrical machine comprising:
- a rotor rotatable about an axis;
- and
- a stator adapted to magnetically interact with the rotor, the stator comprising (t) teeth and one or more windings with compact coils disposed around the teeth, the one or more windings having (m) phases and (p) poles,
- where (t) is an integer and is greater than or equal to two,
- where (m) is an integer and is greater than or equal to two,
- where (p) is an integer, is greater than or equal to two, and is an even number;
- and
- where (t/p=m/2) or (t/p=m/4).
An electrical machine comprising:
- a rotor;
- and
- a stator adapted to magnetically interact with the rotor, the stator comprising a plurality of stator teeth, the plurality of stator teeth comprising
- a first stator tooth comprising a first free end and first and second channels disposed in the first stator tooth at the first free end, the first and second channels having a substantially curvilinear shape,
- a second stator tooth disposed circumferentially adjacent to the first stator tooth, the second stator tooth comprising a second free end and third and fourth channels disposed in the second stator tooth at the second free end, the third and fourth channels having the substantially curvilinear shape, and
- a third stator tooth disposed circumferentially adjacent to the second stator tooth, the third stator tooth comprising a third free end and fifth and sixth channels disposed in the third stator tooth at the third free end, the fifth and sixth channels having the substantially curvilinear shape, wherein each of the plurality of stator teeth comprises a respective free end and two respective curvilinear-shaped channels disposed in each of the free ends, and wherein the stator further comprises (t) teeth and one or more windings with compact coils disposed around the teeth, the one or more windings having (m) phases and (p) poles,
- where (t) is an integer and is greater than or equal to two,
- where (m) is an integer and is greater than or equal to two,
- where (p) is an integer, is greater than or equal to two, and is an even number;
- and
- where a ratio (t/p) is equal to a ratio (m/2) or a ratio (m/4).
An electrical machine comprising:
- a rotor;
- and
- a stator adapted to magnetically interact with the rotor, the stator comprising a plurality of stator teeth, the plurality of stator teeth comprising
- a first stator tooth comprising a first free end and a first non-rectangular, substantially trapezoidal shaped channel disposed in the first stator tooth at the first free end, and
- a second stator tooth comprising a second free end and a second non-rectangular, substantially trapezoidal shaped channel disposed in the first stator tooth at the first free end, wherein the stator further comprises (t) teeth and one or more windings with compact coils disposed around the teeth, the one or more windings having (m) phases and (p) poles,
- where (t) is an integer and is greater than or equal to two,
- where (m) is an integer and is greater than or equal to two,
- where (p) is an integer, is greater than or equal to two, and is an even number;
- and
- where a ratio (t/p) is equal to a ratio (m/2) or a ratio (m/4).
An electrical machine comprising:
- a rotor;
- and
- a stator adapted to magnetically interact with the rotor, the stator comprising a plurality of stator teeth, the plurality of stator teeth comprising
- a first stator tooth comprising a first free end and first and second channels disposed in the first stator tooth at the first free end, the first and second channels having a non-rectangular, substantially trapezoidal shape;
- a second stator tooth comprising a second free end and third and fourth channels disposed in the second stator tooth at the second free end, the third and fourth channels having the non-rectangular, substantially trapezoidal shape;
- and
- a third stator tooth comprising a third free end and fifth and sixth channels disposed in the third stator tooth at the third free end, the third and fourth channels having the non-rectangular, substantially trapezoidal shape, wherein the stator further comprises (t) teeth and one or more windings with compact coils disposed around the teeth, the one or more windings having (m) phases and (p) poles,
