Abstract
Techniques for customizing and personalizing content views that are provided using content aggregation frameworks (such as portal applications). Content transformations may be provided, such that a component is automatically transformed if copied or moved to a content receiver having a particular type. A visual representation of a content component may change as the component is moved about, responsive to moving within proximity of available receiver locations for the component. Visual indicators may be provided to assist the user in determining where each content component can be copied or moved, and/or how the content component will be represented as a result.
Claims16
A method of customizing a content view, comprising steps of:
- determining, for a content component to be moved or copied from a source location to a receiver location on a rendered view generated by a content aggregation framework, at least one receiver type that is compatible with a source type of the content component;
- and
- providing a rendering of information associated with the content component, the rendering comprising at least a specification of the compatible receiver types.
A method of visually indicating where content components can be moved or copied on a content view originally generated by a content aggregation framework, comprising steps of:
- providing at least one rendering of information associated with a content component to be moved or copied on the content view, each of the provided renderings specifying a receiver type consumable by one or more receiver locations to which the content component can be moved or copied;
- identifying one of the provided renderings;
- and
- visually indicating each of the receiver locations able to consume the receiver type specified by the identified rendering.
A system for customizing a content view, comprising:
- a determining means for determining, for a content component to be moved or copied from a source location to a receiver location on a rendered view generated by a content aggregation framework, at least one receiver type that is compatible with a source type of the content component;
- and
- a providing means for providing a rendering of information associated with the content component, the rendering comprising at least a specification of the compatible receiver types.
A computer program product for visually indicating where content components can be moved or copied on a content view originally generated by a content aggregation framework, the computer program product embodied on one or more computer-readable media and comprising computer-readable instructions for:
- providing at least one rendering of information associated with a content component to be moved or copied on the content view, each of the provided renderings specifying a receiver type consumable by one or more receiver locations to which the content component can be moved or copied;
- identifying one of the provided renderings;
- and
- visually indicating each of the receiver locations able to consume the receiver type specified by the identified rendering.
