Abstract
A base ACPI power management state is selected and a feature of a power management state that is to be created is defined. The definition of the power management state to be created is attached to an object of the base ACPI power management state in an ACPI namespace.

A method of creating a power management state in an Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) namespace, comprising:
- selecting a base ACPI power management state;
- defining a feature of the power management state to be created;
- and
- attaching the definition of the power management state to be created to an object of the base ACPI power management state in the ACPI namespace.
A computer-readable medium having stored thereon a data structure, comprising:
- a first data field containing data representing a base Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) power management state;
- and
- a second data field containing data representing a definition of a second power management state.
A computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions for performing a method of creating a power management state in an Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) namespace, the method comprising:
- selecting a base ACPI power management state;
- defining a feature of the power management state to be created;
- and
- attaching the definition of the power management state to be created to an object of the base ACPI power management state in the ACPI namespace.
