Abstract
When a user is entering a transaction for a payee or payor, categories that are associated with the payee/payor are given prominence within a drop-down menu or other selection mechanism. Categories can be associated with payees/payors based on recency and/or frequency of use in connection with such payees/payors, as well as on other factors. Associated categories can be shown atop the drop-down menu, and/or can be otherwise visually distinguished over other categories. This provides easy access and consistency in categorization for the payee, and gives users the ability to consistently and easily apply categories appropriate to a payee/payor.
Claims44
A computer-implemented method for displaying a menu of candidate entries for a record, the method comprising:
- receiving an entry for a second field of the record;
- identifying at least two candidate entries for a first field of the record as being associated with the received entry for the second field of the record;
- displaying a menu of candidate entries for the first field, the menu comprising the associated candidate entries and at least one other candidate entry, wherein the associated candidate entries are displayed visually distinctively from the at least one other candidate entry;
- receiving input indicating an entry for the first field;
- and
- storing the record including the indicated entry for the first field.
A computer program product for displaying a menu of candidate entries for a record, the computer program product comprising:
- a computer-readable medium;
- and
- computer program code, encoded on the medium, for:
- receiving an entry for a second field of the record;
- identifying at least two candidate entries for a first field of the record as being associated with the received entry for the second field of the record;
- displaying a menu of candidate entries for the first field, the menu comprising the associated candidate entries and at least one other candidate entry, wherein the associated candidate entries are displayed visually distinctively from the at least one other candidate entry;
- receiving input indicating an entry for the first field;
- and
- storing the record including the indicated entry for the first field.
A system for displaying a menu of candidate entries for a record, the system comprising:
- an input device, for receiving an entry for a second field of the record;
- a processor, for identifying at least two candidate entries for a first field of the record as being associated with the received entry for the second field of the record;
- a display device, for displaying a menu of candidate entries for the first 8 field, the menu comprising the associated candidate entries and at least one other candidate entry, wherein the associated candidate entries are displayed visually distinctively from the at least one other candidate entry;
- wherein the input device receives input indicating an entry for the first field;
- and
- a storage device, for storing the record including the indicated entry for the first field.
