Abstract
The present invention relates to polynucleotide and polypeptide molecules for zamp1, a novel member of the β-defensin family. The polypeptides, and polynucleotides encoding them, exhibit anti-microbial activity and may be used in the study or treatment of microbial infections. The present invention also includes antibodies to the zamp1 polypeptides.
Claims14
A purified antibody which specifically binds to a polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence that is at least 95% identical to amino acid residues 23 to 67 of SEQ ID NO:10.
A method of producing an antibody comprising:
- inoculating an animal with a polypeptide, wherein the polypeptode consists amino acid residues 23 to 67 of SEQ ID NO:10, and wherein the polypeptide elicits an immune response in the animal to produce the antibody;
- and
- isolating the antibody from the animal.
