Abstract
A multifunctional product is prepared by the reaction of an alkyl or alkenyl succinic acid derivative with a Fused-Ring Aromatic diamine, with a charge mole ratio of the diamine moiety in stoichiometric excess, under reactive conditions to thereby yield a multifunctional lubricant additive.
Claims21
A composition prepared by reacting a mixture under reactive conditions wherein the mixture comprises:
- (a) an alkyl or alkenylsuccinic acid derivative, wherein the alkyl or alkenyl substituent has an average molecular weight of from 450 to 5,000;
- and
- (b) a diamino naphthyl compound of the formula
- wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C1-10 alkyl;
- and R3 is hydrogen, hydroxyl, C1-6 alkyl or C1-6 alkoxy;
- and
- wherein the molar ratio of (a) to (b) is from about 1:1.5 to about 1:3.
