Content selection and delivery of complementary information

An apparatus comprising:

• an initiation unit to establish a telephone call with a mobile communications device, the telephone call being initiated in response to a user dialing an abbreviated dialing code;
• a content identification unit to identifying cont provided external to the mobile communications device associated with the abbreviated dialing code;
• and
• a transmitter to send a message to the mobile communications device including a pointer to information complementary to the identified content, wherein the pointer when activated at the mobile communications device, determines one more operational parameters associated with the mobile communications device and causes data associated with the identified content to be transmitted to the mobile communications device in a format compatible with the determined one or more operational parameters.

A method comprising:

• establishing a voice telephone call in response to a user entering an abbreviated dialing code into a mobile communications device;
• providing an interactive voice response interface to allow for the identification of the user and a resource that is associated with the abbreviated dialing code;
• sending a message to the user including a pointer to a desired resource;
• polling the mobile communications device to determine one or more operational parameters associated with the device in response to an attempt to access the pointer;
• and
• transmitting data associated with the desired resource to the mobile communications device in a format compatible with the determined one or more operational parameters.

An apparatus comprising:

• an initiation unit to establish a voice telephone call in response to a user entering an abbreviated dialing code into a mobile communications device;
• an interactive voice response interface to allow for the identification of the user and a resource that is associated with the abbreviated dialing code;
• a transmission unit to send a message to the user including a pointer to a desired resource;
• and
• a polling unit to poll the mobile communications device to determine one or more operational parameters associated with the device in response to an attempt to access the pointer;
• wherein the transmission unit is operable to also transmit data associated with the desired resource to the mobile communications device in a format compatible with the determined one or more operational parameters.

A method comprising:

• initiating a telephone call on a wireless voice network between a mobile communications device and a first server;
• identifying, by the first server, content desired by the mobile communications device;
• sending, by the first server to the mobile communications device, a message containing a pointer to data associated with the content via a wireless data network;
• seeking, by the mobile communications device from a second server, the data identified by the pointer via the Internet;
• determining, by the second server, one or more operational parameters associated with the mobile communications device;
• and
• providing, by the second server to the mobile communications device, the data identified in the pointer in a format compatible with the one or more determined operational parameters.

A system comprising:

• a mobile communications device;
• a first server;
• and
• a second server;
• wherein the mobile communications device and the first server are operable to initiate a telephone call via a wireless voice network;
• wherein the first server is operable to identify content desired by the mobile communications device and send a message containing a pointer to data associated with the content via a wireless data network;
• wherein the mobile communications device is operable to seek the data obtained by the pointer via the Internet;
• wherein the second server is operable to determine one or more operational parameters associated with the mobile communications device provide the data identified in the pointer in a format compatible with the one or more determined operational parameters to the mobile communications device.

A method comprising:

• delivering an audio broadcast to a mobile communications device;
• receiving a request for a ringtone from the mobile communications device while the audio broadcast is played on the mobile communications device;
• associating the request with a time window of the audio broadcast;
• generating a ringtone for the mobile communications device based on the time window of the audio broadcast;
• delivering the generated ringtone to the mobile communications device for installation by the mobile communications device.

A system comprising:

• a mobile communications device;
• an broadcasting unit to deliver an audio broadcast to the mobile communications device;
• a receiver to receive a request for a ringtone from the mobile communications device while the audio broadcast is played on the mobile communications device;
• an generation unit to associate the request with a time window of the audio broadcast and to generating a ringtone for the mobile communications device based on the time window of the audio broadcast;
• a delivery unit to deliver the generated ringtone to the mobile communications device for installation by the mobile communications device.

A method comprising:

• establishing a voice telephone call in response to a user entering an abbreviated dialing code into a mobile communications device;
• providing an interactive voice response interface to allow for the identification of the user and a resource that is associated with the abbreviated dialing code;
• and
• sending a message to a remote server identifying the resource, the user, and a delivery channel associated with the user.

An apparatus comprising:

• an initiation unit to establish a voice telephone call in response to a user entering an abbreviated dialing code into a mobile communications device;
• an interactive voice response interface to allow for the identification of the user and a resource that is associated with the abbreviated dialing code;
• and
• a transmitter to send a message to a remote server identifying the resource, the user, and a delivery channel associated with the user.
