Digital broadcast methods and apparatus

A transmitter apparatus using at least a first and second carrier, comprising:

• a transmission scheduling module for scheduling transmission of program information on said first and second carriers;
• a multi-carrier transmitter assembly for transmitting program information under control of said scheduling module using at least said first and second carriers, said transmitter assembly including at least one of:
• i) a multi-carrier transmitter and ii) multiple single carrier transmitters;
• and
• a carrier power level control module for controlling the transmission power level of said plurality of carriers to maintain a power differential between said first carrier and second carriers.

A communications apparatus, comprising:

• means for transmitting program information using a plurality of carriers, signals corresponding to different carriers being transmitted at different power levels, said different carriers including a first carrier and a second carrier;
• said means for transmitting program information including:
• first carrier transmitter means for transmitting program information on a first carrier which is transmitted at a first power level;
• and
• said carrier transmitter means for transmitting program information on the second carrier, the second carrier being transmitted at a second power level which is different from said first power level.

A wireless terminal, comprising:

• a receiver module for receiving signals corresponding to a broadcast program, said signals including a first signal and a second signal, the first signal corresponding to a first carrier and first transmitter, the second signal corresponding to a second carrier and second transmitter, at least the first carrier being different from the second carrier or at least the second transmitter being different from the first transmitter;
• a memory module for storing multiple received signals corresponding to the broadcast program received from said different carrier or said at least two different transmitters;
• and
• a combining module for combining received signals received on different carriers or from different transmitters for use in generating a program presentation.

A computer readable medium embodying instructions for performing a method of operating a transmitter apparatus, the method comprising:

• transmitting program information using a plurality of carriers, signals corresponding to different carriers being transmitted at different power levels, said different carriers including a first carrier and a second carrier, said step of transmitting program information including:
• transmitting program information on a first carrier which is transmitted at a first power level;
• and
• transmitting program information on the second carrier, the second carrier being transmitted at a second power level which is different from said first power level.
