Abstract
The present invention relates to methods and compositions for improved efficacy and delivery of time-dependent antimicrobial drug compositions to a patient. Transdermal dosage forms and methods for steady-state delivery of drug to produce and maintain a serum concentration of drug above the minimum inhibitory concentration or minimum microbicidal concentration are provided.
Claims18
A method of improving the efficacy of and reducing the emergence of resistance in a time-dependent antimicrobial drug which comprises administering said time-dependent antimicrobial drug transdermally to achieve a serum concentration that remains above the MIC of said time-dependent antimicrobial drug.
A transdermal drug delivery device comprising a time-dependent antimicrobial drug and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
