Abstract
The present invention relates to a composition and method for preventing or reducing edema, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and/or pulmonary embolism by administering a combination of a fibrinolytic agent and an antioxidant. The composition is particularly useful for treating individuals prior to or during long term flights or other situations involving extended immobility.
Claims13
A method for decreasing or preventing swelling of the lower extremities, edema, pulmonary embolism, or thrombosis, comprising:
- identifying a patient in need of decreasing or preventing swelling of the lower extremities, edema, pulmonary embolism, or thrombosis;
- and
- administering to said patient a pharmaceutical preparation comprising a fibrinolytic agent and an antioxidant.
