Abstract
A camera comprises a line sensor or an areal sensor (1) and an optical imaging system (2) for the projection of an image onto the sensor (1). To increase the resolution, a displacement device (6) is provided for the displacement of the image relative to the sensor (1) (FIG. 2).

A method of taking an image by a line sensor or an areal sensor (1), wherein the image is projected by an optical imaging system (2) onto the sensor (1) and is taken by the sensor (1), and
- the image is displaced by a fraction of the pixel spacing relative to the sensor (1) and is taken.
A method of taking a color image by a line sensor or an areal sensor (1), wherein the image is projected by an optical imaging system (2) onto the sensor (1) and is taken by the sensor (1) separated by color, and
- the image is displaced by one or more pixel spacings relative to the sensor (1) and/or the sensor (1) is displaced by one or more pixel spacings relative to the image and the image is taken.
