Abstract
A web camera has a light sensor, a digital signal processor (DSP), a driving circuit, and a light source. When the light sensor detects that the ambient illumination is lower than a predetermined amount, the DSP will command the driving circuit to power the light source to provide increased illumination.

A web camera with dynamic light compensation control, comprising:
- a body having an opening;
- a light sensor for detecting ambient illumination through the opening;
- a processor coupled to the light sensor;
- a driving circuit coupled to the processor;
- and
- a light source coupled to the driving circuit;
- wherein when the light sensor detects that the ambient illumination is lower than a predetermined level, the processor activates the driving circuit for dynamically illuminating the light source.

- wherein when the light sensor detects that the ambient illumination is lower than a predetermined amount, the processor activates the driving circuit for dynamically illuminating the light source.
