Method and apparatus for treating fluids

An apparatus for combining fluids comprising:

• a fluid composition;
• a hollow fiber membrane contactor having an inlet in-line with said fluid composition;
• an reactive fluid in said hollow fiber contactor and separated from said fluid composition by said hollow fiber membrane, said reactive fluid combining with at least one component of said fluid composition to form a fluid product;
• a outlet from said hollow fiber contactor for withdrawing a portion of said fluid product.

A method for purifying a fluid comprising the steps of:

• providing a fluid comprising impurities;
• combining said impurity comprising fluid with a reactive liquid separated from said impurity comprising fluid by a plurality of porous hollow fiber membranes in a hollow fiber contactor, said reactive liquid purifying the fluid by the combination of said impurities with the reactive liquid;
• and
• withdrawing a portion of said purified fluid.

A method for concentrating a first fluid in a second fluid comprising the steps of:

• providing a fluid composition;
• combining said fluid composition with a reactive liquid separated from said fluid composition by a plurality of porous hollow fiber membranes in a hollow fiber contactor, said combining act preferentially concentrating a component of the fluid composition into said reactive liquid to form a fluid product;
• and
• withdrawing a portion of said fluid product from the contactor.
