Abstract
This invention is directed to methods of converting oxygenates to olefin products. The methods provided include steps for protecting against deactivation of active molecular sieve catalysts during the conversion process. In particular, the invention provides for methods of regenerating coked catalyst to minimize catalyst deactivation due to contact with moisture.
Claims79
A process for reducing deactivation of catalyst used in converting oxygenate to an olefin composition, comprising the steps of:
- a) providing a catalyst that comprises molecular sieve crystals having a molecular framework that includes [AlO4] and [SiO4] tetrahedral units;
- b) contacting the oxygenate with the catalyst in a reactor to form the olefin composition and a coked catalyst;
- c) sending at least a portion of the coked catalyst in the reactor to a regenerator;
- and
- d) contacting the coked catalyst with regeneration gas in the regenerator so as to remove at least a portion of the coke composition on the coked catalyst at an average regenerator temperature of not greater than 690° C.
A process for reducing deactivation of catalyst used in converting oxygenate to an olefin composition, comprising the steps of:
- a) providing a catalyst that comprises molecular sieve crystals having a molecular framework that includes [AlO4] and [SiO4] tetrahedral units;
- b) contacting the oxygenate with the catalyst in a reactor to form the olefin composition and a coked catalyst;
- c) heating at least a portion of the coked catalyst in an environment that has not greater than 1.0 mole percent oxygen;
- and
- d) contacting the heated catalyst with regeneration gas in a regenerator so as to remove at least a portion of the coke composition on the catalyst.
