Abstract
A formulation for repelling particulate matter on the surface of a coating comprising polymeric nanoparticles having a mean particle diameter of from 1 to 50 nm. The polymeric nanoparticles may further be functionalized to impart additional characteristics to modify the surface of the dried coating to minimize the chances for particles to become embedded or attached to the coating.
Claims22
An aqueous coating composition for improving the dirt pick up resistance characteristics of a coating comprising polymeric nanoparticles having a mean particle diameter of from 1 to 10 nm and functionalized with photosensitive moieties and at least one of fluorinated and silicon moieties, the polymeric nanoparticles obtained from monomers comprising from 1 to 99.5%, by weight, of at least one multi-ethylenically unsaturated monomer and at least one ethylenically unsaturated water soluble monomer.
