Abstract
A method and apparatus for controlling or regulating a folder of a printing press is disclosed. Setpoint fold values are generated on the basis of prepress stage data and printed copies are measured in the folded and/or partially folded state in order to determine actual fold values. The actual fold values which are determined in the process are compared with the corresponding setpoint fold values and, as a function of this comparison, the folder is set automatically in such a way that the actual fold values correspond to or are approximated to the setpoint fold values in subsequent printed copies.

A method for controlling or regulating a folder of a printing press, wherein setpoint fold values are generated on a basis of prepress stage data, printed copies are measured in a folded and/or partially folded state in order to determine actual fold values, the actual fold values which are determined are compared with the corresponding setpoint fold values, and, as a function of this comparison, the folder is set automatically in such a way that the actual fold values correspond to or are approximated to the setpoint fold values in subsequent printed copies.
A method for controlling a folder of a printing press, comprising the steps of:
- generating a setpoint fold value based on a prepress stage data;
- measuring a printed copy in a folded state to determine an actual fold value that corresponds to the setpoint fold value;
- comparing the actual fold value to the corresponding setpoint fold value;
- determining a manipulated variable based on the comparing step;
- and
- controlling the folder based on the manipulated variable.
An apparatus for controlling a folder of a printing press, comprising:
- a setpoint generating device for generating a setpoint fold value for a fold to be made to a printed copy by the folder;
- a measuring device for measuring an actual fold value that corresponds to the setpoint fold value;
- a comparing device for determining a fold deviation between the actual fold value and the corresponding setpoint fold value;
- and
- a regulating device for controlling the folder based on the fold deviation.
