Abstract
In accordance with a particular embodiment of the present invention, a method using Quality of Service (QoS) information to influence a user's presence state is provided that includes the establishment of a virtual communication session between a first network device and a second network device. The virtual communication session emulates a communication session that may be established in the future. At least one QoS parameter associated with the virtual connection is monitored. Presence information is then provided to a first user that includes the QoS parameter.
Claims26
A method using Quality of Service (QoS) information to influence a user's presence state, comprising:
- establishing a virtual communication session between a first network device and a second network device, the virtual communication session emulating a communication session that may be established in the future;
- monitoring at least one QoS parameter associated with the virtual connection;
- and
- providing presence information to a first user, the presence information comprising the QoS parameter.
A system using Quality of Service (QoS) information to influence a user's presence state, comprising:
- a plurality of endpoints operable to establish one or more communication sessions over a network;
- and
- a processor coupled to the network, the processor operable to:
- establish a virtual communication session between a first network device and a second network device, the virtual communication session emulating a communication session that may be established in the future;
- monitor at least one QoS parameter associated with the virtual connection;
- and
- provide presence information to a first user, the presence information comprising the QoS parameter.
A system using Quality of Service (QoS) information to influence a user's presence state, comprising:
- means for establishing a virtual communication session between a first network device and a second network device, the virtual communication session emulating a communication session that may be established in the future;
- means for monitoring at least one QoS parameter associated with the virtual connection;
- and
- means for providing presence information to a first user, the presence information comprising the QoS parameter.
Logic embodied in a computer readable medium, the computer readable medium comprising code operable to:
- establish a virtual communication session between a first network device and a second network device, the virtual communication session emulating a communication session that may be established in the future;
- monitor at least one Quality of Service (QoS) parameter associated with the virtual connection;
- and
- provide presence information to a first user, the presence information comprising the QoS parameter.
