Abstract
Apparatuses and processes for generating images having increased brightness uniformity are disclosed herein.
Claims22
In a projection system, a method of operation, comprising:
- receiving a first image signal of an image to be projected on a screen, the first image signal including a first grayscale value associated with an image segment of the image, the image segment to be projected on a screen location of the screen;
- adjusting the first grayscale value based at least in part on the disposition of the screen location on the screen;
- generating a second image signal including the adjusted grayscale value for the image segment;
- and
- controlling a light valve based on the second image signal to increase brightness uniformity of the image to be projected on the screen.

In a projection system, a method of operation, comprising:
- receiving a first image signal of an image to be projected on a screen, the first image signal including a first grayscale value to control a first valvelet of a light valve, the first valvelet is associated with a first screen location of the screen;
- adjusting the first grayscale value by applying a first adjustment factor to the first grayscale value based at least in part on the disposition of the first screen location on the screen;
- and
- controlling the first valvelet based on the adjusted first grayscale value to increase brightness uniformity of the image to be projected on the screen.

A projection system, comprising:
- a display device including a light valve;
- and
- an image processor coupled to the display device, the image processor adapted to receive a first image signal of an image to be projected on a screen, the first image signal including a first grayscale value associated with an image segment of the image, the image segment to be projected on a screen location of the screen, adjust the first grayscale value based at least in part on the disposition of the screen location on the screen, generate a second image signal including the adjusted grayscale value for the image segment, and control the light valve contained in the display device based on the second image signal to increase brightness uniformity of the image to be projected on the screen.
