Abstract
Traditional graph cuts provides a powerful method for producing semi-automatic image/volume segmentation, but often exceed available computer power. Multi-level methods for coarsening images/volumes are disclosed that allow for faster processing and creation of graph cuts segmentation without sacrificing quality of image. The disclosed graph cuts methods can be used at interactive speeds.
Claims24
A method of processing a set of image data, having a first plurality of nodes comprising:
- generating a measure of affinity between neighboring nodes in the first plurality of nodes;
- downsampling the first set of image data to generate a second plurality of nodes such that the second plurality of nodes is less than the first plurality of nodes;
- and
- generating a measure of affinity between neighboring nodes in the second plurality of nodes, the measure of affinity between neighboring nodes in the second plurality of nodes being based on the measure of affinity between neighboring nodes in the first plurality of nodes.

A system for analyzing an image, comprising:
- a computer;
- and
- an image processing application loaded on the computer system;
- wherein the imaging processing application:
- generates a measure of affinity between neighboring nodes in the first plurality of nodes;
- downsampling the first set of image data to generate a second plurality of nodes such that the second plurality of nodes is less than the first plurality of nodes;
- and
- generating a measure of affinity between neighboring nodes in the second plurality of nodes, the measure of affinity between neighboring nodes in the second plurality of nodes being based on the measure of affinity between neighboring nodes in the first plurality of nodes.
