Abstract
A sintered body of a ceramics and a slurry comprising powder of the ceramic and a dispersing medium are prepared. The surface of the molded body is coated with the slurry so that the slurry forms free surface. The molded body is then sintered to obtain a ceramic sintered body. It is thus possible to reduce the roughness of the surface of the molded body and to improve the flatness of the sintered body.

A method of producing a ceramic sintered body, said method comprising the steps of:
- preparing a molded body of a ceramics;
- preparing a slurry comprising powder of said ceramic and a dispersing medium;
- coating a surface of said molded body with said slurry so as to form a free surface;
- and
- sintering said molded body.
