Automated policy change alert in a distributed enterprise

One or more computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions that, when executed, cause a computer to perform a process comprising:

• generating an alert when a change occurs to a systems policy that may violate a published policy;
• and
• generating an alert when a change occurs to the published policy that may violate the systems policy.

A system for managing published policies in an enterprise, the system comprising:

• a policy library containing published policies, systems policies, and associations between the published policies and systems policies;
• and
• a policy management module configured to examine the associations and generate an alert when an association is unmatched, changed, or inconsistent.
