Abstract
A device is made up of one piece, or two independent pieces, that can be linked with each other to make a unit. The anterior end of a drainage tube is introduced 2 mm into the anterior chamber of the eye while the rear end of the tube is placed in the scleral lake. A cover is a plane body slight in height and oval or oblong in format that is provided with four parallel cuts that create two girths. The said girths are used to retain the drainage tube below the cover, thus creating a curvature in it to form a concave inner surface and a convex outer surface.
Claims10
A drainage device for aqueous humor in cases of glaucoma, of a type surgically insertable parallel to the iris in such a way as to link a first zone, or anterior chamber of the eye, containing aqueous humor with a second zone, or scleral filtration space, said device comprises a drainage tube that links said zones, said drainage tube comprising a hollow tubular body that is circular or ovoid in section and that has an anterior end in communication with said anterior chamber of the eye and a rear end communicating with said scleral filtration space;
- and a cover located above said discharge tube and positioned slightly displaced towards the rear end, below the scleral flap and near the limbus;
- said drainage tube and said cover being one single piece or two independent inter-connectable pieces making up a unit in which the anterior end of the drainage tube is introduced 2 mm into the anterior chamber of the eye, and the cover comprises of a flat body, low in height and oval or oblong in shape provided with four parallel cuts forming two retaining girths for the drainage tube, determining the curvature of the drainage tube, and the formation of a concave inner surface below and an convex outer surface.
