Abstract
An activated AlF3 based catalyst is produced by treating a crude AlF3 for more than 5 hours with a gas stream at a temperature from 300° C. to 450° C.

A process for producing an activated AlF3 based catalyst, wherein a crude AlF3 is treated for more than 5 hours with a gas stream at a temperature from 300° C. to 450° C.
A method for the isomerization of 1,1,2-trifluoro-1,2-dichloroethane wherein the 1,1,2-trifluoro- 1,2-dichloroethane, in the vapor state, is contacted with an isomerization catalyst under a pressure of from 2 to 5 bar.
