Abstract
Electrical connectors and contacts for transmitting power are provided. One power contact embodiment includes a first plate that defines a first non-deflecting beam and a first deflectable beam, and a second plate that defines a second non-deflecting beam and a second deflectable beam. The first and second plates are positioned beside one another to form the power contact.
Claims22
An electrical connector contact system, comprising:
- a first electrical power contact and a second electrical power contact;
- the first electrical power contact comprising a first section with a first interior mating surface, the first interior mating surface electrically contacting a first exterior mating surface of a third section of the second electrical power contact;
- and
- the first electrical power contact further comprising a second section with a second exterior mating surface, the second exterior mating surface electrically contacting a second interior mating surface of a fourth section of the second electrical power contact.
1 more element
A power contact, comprising:
- a first plate, first deflectable beam mechanically connected to the first plate, and a first straight beam mechanically connected to the first plate;
- and
- a second plate, a second deflectable beam mechanically connected to the second plate, and a second straight beam mechanically connected to the second plate;
- wherein the first plate and the second plate are positioned beside one another so that the first and second deflectable beams extend generally parallel to and are spaced apart from one another.
1 more element
Matable power contacts, comprising:
- a first power contact comprising a first pair of opposing straight beams and a first pair of opposing angled beams;
- a second power contact including a second pair of opposing straight beams and a second pair of opposing angled beams;
- wherein the first pair of opposing straight beams is received by the second pair of opposing angled beams, and the second pair of opposing straight beams is received by the first pair of opposing angled beams when the power contacts are mated.
