Abstract
A filtering catalytic substrate including a non-woven fibrous refractory body, a plurality of channels formed in the body, a washcoat layer at least partially coating the channels, and a catalyst material at least partially coating the washcoat. The body is substantially composed of interlocking fibers.
Claims33
A filtering substrate comprising:
- a non-woven fibrous refractory monolithic body;
- and
- a plurality of channels formed in the body;
- wherein the body consists essentially of interlocking fibers.
1 more element
A method of filtering a fluid stream, comprising:
- positioning a substrate in a fluid stream, wherein the substrate further comprises:
- a non-woven fibrous refractory body;
- and
- a plurality of channels formed in the body;
- wherein the body is substantially composed of interlocking fibers;
- and
- directing a flow of reactive fluid through the channels.
4 more elements
The method of claim 22 wherein the substrate further comprises:
- a washcoat layer at least partially coating the channels;
- and
- a catalyst material at least partially coating the washcoat.
A process for preparing a catalytic filtering substrate, comprising:
- mixing a plurality of refractory ceramic fibers of at least one predetermined length;
- blending the fibers into a flowable mixture;
- forming the flowable mixture into a body;
- forming a plurality of channels in the body;
- drying the body;
- and
- firing the body;
- wherein the fired body is substantially fibrous.
5 more elements
A filtering substrate comprising:
- a non-woven fibrous refractory monolithic body;
- and
- a plurality of channels formed in the body;
- wherein the body is composed of interlocking fibers.
