Abstract
A reflector and method for producing the same. The reflector comprises a glass substrate, an intermediate layer, consisting essentially of aluminum oxide, disposed on the substrate, a reflective silver layer disposed on the intermediate layer, and a passivation layer disposed on the silver layer.

A reflector, comprising:
- a glass substrate;
- an intermediate layer, consisting essentially of aluminum oxide, disposed on the substrate;
- a reflective silver layer disposed on the intermediate layer;
- and
- a passivation layer disposed on the silver layer.

A method for producing a reflector, comprising:
- providing a glass substrate;
- forming an intermediate layer, consisting essentially of aluminum oxide, on the substrate utilizing vacuum deposition;
- forming a reflective silver layer on the intermediate layer;
- and
- forming a passivation layer on the silver layer utilizing vacuum deposition.
