Abstract
A high current, low profile inductor includes a conductor coil surrounded by magnetic material to form an inductor body. The inductor coil is formed from a flat plate which is cut into a sine-shaped configuration and then is folded in accordion fashion to create a helical coil.
Claims6
An inductor comprising:
- an inductor element comprising first and second inductor ends formed from an electrically conductive material;
- a dry mixture comprising a dry resin and an insulated dry powdered iron material, the dry mixture being compressed while in a dry state around the surface of the inductor element to create an inductor body;
- the first and second inductor ends being outside the inductor body.
An inductor comprising:
- a conductive coil having an open center, an outside surface, and first and second coil ends;
- a dry powdered material comprised of a dry iron powder and a dry resin, the dry powdered iron being compressed into an inductor body that surrounds the conductive coil so as to contact the conductive coil both inside the open center and on the outside surface;
- the first and second coil ends being outside the inductor body.
An inductor comprising:
- an inductor element;
- first and second ends on the inductor element;
- an inductor body comprising a mixture of dry resin and a dry iron powdered magnetic material, the inductor body surrounding and being in complete contact with the inductor element except for the first and second ends thereof;
- the first and second ends of the inductor element being outside the inductor body.
